Essential Driver Training Lesson Ten
Lesson 10 of EDT
Speed Management
At this stage you should have near or around 30 hours of practice on all of the content of the previous nine EDT lessons.
You should be able to drive in fast moving traffic or where speeds are variable and you should be able to drive independently for a while also.
While independent driving you should be able to:
- Manage and control your speed
- Drive safely and correctly in fast moving traffic
- Drive safe where speeds are highly variable
- Make quick and independent decisions
As you can appreciate this is a high standard of driving for any new driver.
And unless the relevant practice has been achieved, then you will struggle to cope in this environment. We have found that some pupils have to be taken back into the quieter areas as they are overwhelmed by the speed and the quality of the other vehicles. This is a result of lack of practice.
To reiterate, 12 EDT lessons are basic and mandatory but not near enough to be at the level for this EDT 10 of speed management. Always we offer support and filler lessons for those who are struggling to cope with the pressures of speed management.
Next: EDT 11 - Driving calmly.
