Essential Driver Training Lesson 12
Lesson 12 of EDT
Night driving
Basically, this lesson allows and shows you how to deal with driving at night.
You need to be able to identify all of the hazards in the dark, which is very different then in daylight hours. Judging distance and space is more difficult as night driving can create shades and shadows, and can sometimes make you see things that are not what you actually think they are.
The correct use of the lights and full beams are essential and courtesy not to dazzle other road users by forgetting to dip your full headlights.
You would also need to be able to:
- Enter and exit roundabouts
- Enter and exit main roads
- Slow down making proper use of your gears
- Show due consideration for other road users
All this while driving at night time.
This would conclude your EDT course. This is far from the end of your journey. More practice will be needed. You will also need to think about applying for your driving test at the RSA test centre nearest to you and beginning your driving test preparation which is different than practicing to drive safely.
