Essential Driver Training Lesson Four
Lesson 4 of EDT
Progression Management
At this stage, you should have at least 12 hours of practice under your belt, if not you're going to struggle with lesson 4, which is all about progression management.
This has to do with the control of speed of your vehicle in lower risk driving situations like quiet residential areas & local and rural roads.
Lesson 4 will cover:
- Controlling speed
- Speed limits
- Stopping distances
- Effects of road
- Weather conditions
- Driving too fast for situations in relations to hazards
At the end of the lesson, we will have attempted to show you how to adjust the speed of your vehicle in relation to the speed limit and road layout. You should be able to explain how to use the effects of road and weather conditions to stop the vehicle at different speeds. You should also be able to show understanding of the dangers associated with driving too fast and breaking too hard.
As you can see, the content and successful outcome is impossible to achieve in just four hours. This level will be achieved with around 10 to 12 hours of support or practice lessons with a sponsor or ourselves or both.
After this lesson, you should be studying and preparing for EDT 5 (Correct Positioning) and practice in advance again before the lesson.
